Why a field toolkit matters
During commissioning or service, the problem is rarely limited to one device. The engineer first needs to discover what is connected, identify the protocol, verify reachability and confirm that the data means what it is expected to mean. NODVIA Field is designed as a shared workspace for that process.
From connection to data
A practical workflow is consistent: discover the device, verify communication, read identity information and only then inspect data points. Writing values requires even more care: understand the object or register type, allowed range and the real-world consequence of the change.

NODVIA Field as a common service layer
The app brings together BACnet, Modbus TCP/RTU, KNX, Siemens Climatix, M-Bus, USB Serial and network tools. Its purpose is not to replace vendor engineering suites, but to shorten the path to useful field information. Dedicated tools remain essential for engineering, certification and complex programming.
A systematic workflow
Start with the physical connection, IP or serial settings, discovery and device identification. Continue with reading, data-format verification and only then writing. Logs, trends and saved projects make diagnostics repeatable and easier to compare later.
Limits and safety
A mobile service tool cannot fix incorrect bus topology, termination, duplicate addresses or a wrongly configured device. A write operation can also change a real process. Writes should therefore be deliberate, verified and performed by someone who understands the system.
